With the introduction of Catalogs, is it possible to still use Sessions?
Yes. Sessions now offer even stronger file organization, enabling you to store all files as a complete project (with all relevant files such as raw, settings, library and output).
Can images be transferred between Sessions and Catalogs?
Yes. It is possible to import and transfer all your images with adjustments from sessions to catalogs. You can also export images with adjustments from catalogs to open images in a session.
What is the role of Media Pro in this version of Capture One Pro?
Media Pro has served as inspiration for many of the great new catalog features in Capture One Pro 7. The powerful and unique features of catalogs in Capture One Pro 7 -- ease of set up and ability to work on various catalogs open at the same time -- makes this a compelling DAM solution for our customers.
Will Media Pro still be a stand-alone Phase One product?
Media Pro is still being developed. Based on market input, we are constantly evaluating how best to provide value to our customers and improve our products including Media Pro. Media Pro supports a number of file formats that are not supported in Capture One Pro 7 and so supports other important Phase One customers.
What file formats does Capture One Pro 7 support?
Capture One Pro 7 supports around 250 different file types from most major camera manufacturers and most commonly-used graphic file and image formats.
Is my lens supported in the new lens correction tool?
There will be more than 100 lenses supported with the introduction of Capture One Pro 7 with more to come. Please refer to the release notes for the full list of supported lenses.
What metadata does Capture One Pro 7 share with Adobe Photoshop?
Capture One Pro 7 supports the worldwide IPTC metadata standard and therefore is compatible with any application adhering to that standard, such as Adobe Photoshop.
Are the Capture One Pro 7 features the same in both Windows and Mac OS?
Yes, with some slight differences.
Is there a Capture One Express version 7?
Yes, Phase One has just released this version.
Is there a cost when upgrading to Capture One Pro 7?
Capture One 7 Pro is a paid upgrade for all previous users of Capture One. The upgrade cost is $99.00. To upgrade you must go through the Phase One Eshop.
What is the cost to purchase new?

What is the cost to use Capture One DB?
Capture One DB is free of charge for all users. No code or Internet access is required to activate and use. This includes all updates.
Are there individual installers for each version?
Pro and DB are all contained in one installer. The choice of which version to use will appear after installation.
Can Capture One Pro be activated if I’m not connected to the Internet?
No, Manual activation of the PRO software is no longer available.
Licensing Information - For Existing Capture One Users
Is this a chargeable upgrade?
For those using Capture One DB, this upgrade is free of charge. No code or Internet access necessary to upgrade.
For those using Capture One PRO, this upgrade may or may not be free of charge. This will be based on when you purchased the software. If you don't know, go to www.phaseone.com and log in to your account. Click on My Account and then License Management.
For those using Capture One LE, this upgrade is chargeable. If your code was purchased to work with Capture One 3 the cost is $129.
For those using Capture One 4 (limited version), this upgrade is chargeable. If your code was purchased to work with Capture One 4 the cost is $99.
Should I upgrade?
As always we recommend waiting for a short period of time to lapse in case of any issues that were not found during the beta test period before bringing it into full production. If you have more then one machine and want to try the new software please do so.
*Important Note: Capture One 7 writes over Capture One 6.
What do I need to do?
Once you have decided that you would like to keep using Capture One 7 or the 60 day trial period has ended, you will need to to purchase an upgrade code if you are an existing Capture One user. The upgrade cost is $99.00. To upgrade you must go through the Phase One Eshop. Phase One’s web site. Click here to enter your email address and get a 10% Discount off your upgrade.
What is needed to activate Capture One Pro?
Your activation key and Phase One Profile email address is needed to activate. New users can create a new profile on the Phase One web site. Existing users will need the email address and password combination used to previously activate the software. The activation codes are linked to the profile email address.
My activation code has the last four digits hidden. How do I get the full code?
If you cannot locate your activation code you can find it the License Management section of your Phase One profile. To locate log into Phase One’s web site with the email and password combination used to activate your software. Once you are logged in click on License Management. A drop down menu will appear on the next page. Click the select the code to see the whole number.
Your hard drive crashed, your computer was stolen or you’ve upgraded without deactivating on your original machine. How can you deactivate under these circumstances?
When this occurs you can deactivate from the Phase One web site. This will free up all of your available activations. To complete log into Phase One’s web site with the email and password combination used to activate your software. Once you are logged in click on License Management. A drop down menu will appear on the next page. Click the select the code that needs deactivation. Click deactivate. Now return to Capture One software to activate on each computer.
An invalid code message is appearing when trying to activate Capture One Pro 7.
This will appear for three different reasons.
- The code is being typed in incorrectly
- The code is for a previous version of the software, check your codes in the License Management section of Phase One’s site to confirm it is valid for Capture One 7.
- The code hasn’t been upgraded to work with Capture One 7. All users of Capture One Pro 6 must upgrade their code to activate.
How do I activate Capture One DB?
Capture One DB is included in the main installer. To activate select “Use as DB” in the License window in Capture One. Click use then click Relaunch. The software will shutdown then turn back on automatically in the Capture One DB mode.
Please note there is only one installer regardless of the version you intend to use. After installation the software will give you activation options.

If you are using the Trial Period there are two options: Capture One and Capture One Pro. Capture One is a limited edition of the software. If you are looking for the full Pro version, be sure to select Capture One Pro.
If you are a Phase One Digital Back owner, you may now use the software without an activation code. Select Use Capture One DB and you can start working right away. The only limitation of this software is that it will not work with DSLR files or tether to DSLR cameras.
If you are interested in using Capture One Pro you can enter a code you already own or purchase one via the Digital Transitions web site.
Activation/Deactivation: Capture One 7.x allows you to activate and deactivate through the software. This process gives you freedom to easily switch from computer to computer.
To deactivate:
Go to Capture One>License
Select the code, click Deactivate.

Click the check mark to agree then click Deactivate.


To Reactivate, select the code then press Activate. Please note that you do need an Internet connection to reactivate.

Installation
If you previously have installed versions of Capture One 7 on your computer we recommend that you start by uninstalling these before you install this version of Capture One 4. If you want to keep your existing versions of Capture One 4 you can install this newer version of Capture One 7 in a different location. Image settings made with older versions of Capture One 7 can be used in the newer Capture One 7.x, but the opposite is not the case.
Install on Windows:
Capture One includes an easy-to-use installer that will install all the software you need to run the application on a Windows based computer.
To install the software, please follow the procedure below:
- Load the Capture One DVD, or download the application from our web site
- Run the executable software install file.
- Read and accept the license agreement when presented.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Install on Mac OS X:
Capture One includes an easy-to-use installer that will install all the software necessary to run the application on Mac OS X.
To install the software, please follow the procedure below:
- Load the Capture One DVD or download the application from our web site
- Open the Capture One disk image.
- Read and accept the license agreement when presented.
- Drag the Capture One icon to the Applications folder.
- Start the Capture One application from your Applications folder.
- If you have a previous version of Capture One 7, please delete the Capture One preferences file located in the User Library Preferences folder.
