Profoto Acute2R
![]() |
Profoto USA has introduced the latest generation in the Acute family, the Profoto Acute2R. This new generator is based on the Profoto Acute2 and is identical in every way with one exception: the Profoto Acute2R has a PocketWizard Digital Radio receiver built-in, to give the photographer *Digital Wireless Freedom.
In order to maintain the simple elegance that Profoto is known for, the Profoto Acute2R has no buttons or switches to set when selecting a channel. Simply turn the generator on and the system is put into “Learn” mode. The first PocketWizard signal it receives, it remembers. To reset, just turn the generator off, then on again and repeat. This simple approach eliminates any learning curve for the photographer. The Acute2Rs are available in both 1200 and 2400 w/s versions. (The original Acute2 units without the PocketWizard receivers remain as part of the Acute product line.) The Profoto Acute 2 and Acute2R packs offer fast recycling times and very short flash durations. As with the Profoto Acute 2, the Acute2R also includes a fully proportional modeling light and a white-light slave that can be turned off.
These newly upgraded generators maintain the small size and convenient footprint of their predecessor, with a substantial improvement to performance and function. Faster recycle times & shorter flash durations combine with proportional modeling lights to offer the “pro on the go” a location package that is perfectly suited for all applications.

This new flash generator from Profoto is the perfect combination of digital precision and versatility with analogue control and reliability. This gives you the immense possibilities of computer technology and the logical handling of a classical instrument. D4 generators grow with your demands. They are suited to all kinds of sophisticated photography such as still life, interior, people and product shots.
Full Direct Control
Designed from the ground up with a commercial photographer in mind, the all-new digital, Profoto D4 flash generators set the standard for consistency and control. The four channel asymmetric system allows direct control of each lamp head. Each head is controlled by a separate knob and corresponding high contrast LED panel. One D4 generator gives you the same possibilities as using 4 independent flash units.
Making Overall Output Changes Fast and Easy
The individual LED displays for each channel can be set by the user to display the flash power in Ws or in relative f-stops and always shows the real output. In the Ws mode, the display indicates the actual watt second output for each individual head. If you prefer, output can be expressed in f-stops, with 100% power being equal to 10 on the scale. With the reduction of one f-stop in power, the display reads 9. Likewise, a 1/10 f-stop change would read 9.1 and so on. And thanks to the microprocessor controlled output, you can be sure that each head will produce exactly the amount of light you want each and every time.
Perfect Performance
Short flash duration and fast recycling are inherent in the design of a Profoto generator. The D4 1200 has a flash duration from1/7500 to 1/1000 sec. and recycling times from 0.07 to 1.20 sec. The D4 2400 offers flash durations from 1/4500 to 1/600 sec. and recyling times from 0.09 to 2.20 sec. In addition, from flash to flash and over the entire power range no shifts of the color temperature or f-stop will occur – even if more than one head is used. This guarantees consistent results on crucial analogue and digital shoots.
